Festival Opening
The European Culture Days are a festival for the intensification of cross-border cultural exchange. Only the encounter of different cultures creates the common cultural identity of Europeans. Since 1983, the city of Karlsruhe organized jointly with the Baden State Theater, the European Cultural Days, which take place every two years since 1996. The festival concept of European Culture Days Karlsruhe implements the guidelines of European cultural policy in accordance with Article 151 of the EU Treaty as a base: Emphasize the unity of European culture while respecting the cultural diversity of the different nations. Together with Karlsruher institutions of culture and science, the Cultural Office of the City of Karlsruhe and the State Theatre Karlsruhe explore from 8th to 24th April 2016 in numerous events the facets of "walks" on the stage, in exhibitions, performances, films, readings and discussions.
