Festival of Culture | July 21-31, 2016 | Wrocław, Poland
Art Non-stop: A highlight of the Capital of Culture year that comprises various artistic genres
On the one hand, the independent film festival Nowe Horyzonty (new horizons) will take place during this time. This year, it is, among others, dedicated to various generations of Basque film makers. Traditionally, many open-air performances take place in the context of the festival. Furthermore, the big choral gathering “Singing Europe” will take place at the same time. On July 23rd and 30th, as well as on August 6th, dozens of choirs with young singers from all over Europe will enter the stage. Also, a joint final concert at the new stadium is planned. In addition, the Coalition of Cities project unites artists from Wrocław with their colleagues from Lublin, Łódź, Gdánsk, and Katowice for joint activities from the fields of performance, visual arts, or music. These cities also applied for European Capital of Culture and now prove to be good sports. Finally, about 40,000 young people from all over Europe are expected during this time. They will be on their way to the World Youth Day, the largest gathering of young Catholics, which this year will take place in Kraków.
