Opera and half marathon | Saturday, June 18, 2016 | Wrocław, Poland
Culture and sports united – Spanish Zarzuela and half marathon at night
Under the direction of Ewa Michnik and due to her big productions, the Wrocław Opera has become famous far beyond the borders of Poland. For the European Capital of Culture year, she is working on a gigantic project again. Over 500 artists will present an interpretation of George Bizet’s Carmen to an audience of several ten thousand people at the new Wrocław Stadium. The "Spanish Night with Carmen – Zarzuela Show" forges a bridge to the Basque coast. In the brilliant second act, the audience is presented with a 45-minute performance of the most beautiful songs of Zarzuela, the classical Spanish musical theater. The production is directed by Waldemar Zawodziński from Wrocław and Spaniard Ignacio García. Artists from Madrid and San Sebastián are also part of the project. The athletic highlight of the day will be the half marathon at night, leading over some of the most beautiful and festively illuminated bridges of the Odra city.
