On Słodowa Island, visitors will be warmed by fire installations, at the Galeria Awangarda, an exhibition of the Basque artist Eduardo Chillida will be opened which forges a bridge to the second Capital of Culture of 2016, San Sebastián. On Saturday, a gala concert will take place at the new National Forum of Music as a tribute to Melina Mercouri. The highlight will be a performance by Chris Baldwin named “Przebudzenie” (Awakening). From four parts of the city, giant figures will be put into motion. They symbolize the spirit of religions, of innovation, of reconstruction, and of high waters. On the way, they tell their stories. On the Rynek (market place), they are welcomed by hundreds of musicians and combined into an installation 14 meters high, which serves as a symbol for the past and present of Wrocław.
